Running Down the Walls | August 2, 2011

whilst reinforcing the ones we have built within our community.

ever since saturday i have been writing the same blog in about a thousand different ways. it’s about DABC. it’s about hegemony. it’s about silencing. it’s about a group of people working towards social liberation becoming more and more exclusive every second. it’s about elitism boiling over into a big helpingsof cowardice(fearing the state like woah because the state, unlike myself and those they ostrisize could comprimise their comforts). it’s about a group of people with a lot of power in our community becoming just straight up nose in the air snotty. blabbity blabbity blah. right?

i’ve had this dead horse in my pocket for weeks, months possibly and it’s stankin’ up my mojo. so i’m wrapping it up and throwing it out… well into a new realm at least.

But I was reading last night and I think this brings it all together. (Hang in there, it’s long and f’ing worth it.)

“Without the essential(intimate)insanities humor becomes inoffensive and therefore pap, poetry becomes esoteric and therefore prose, eroticism becomes mechanical and therefore pornography, behavior becomes predictable and therefore easy to control. As for magic, there’s none at all because the aim of any social activist(which DABC is because they will negate human process for the work. the definition of activist being: an especially active, vigorous advocate of a cause, especially a political cause i.e. political prisoners)is power over others, whereas a magician seeks power over only himself: the power of higher consciousness, which, while universal, cosmic even, is manifest in the intimate. It would seem that a whole human being would have the capacity for both intimacy and social action, yet sad to say, every cause no matter how worthy, eventually falls prey to the tyranny of the dull mind. In the movement, as in the bee hive or the white ant’s hill of clay, there is no place for idiosyncrasy, let alone mischief.

A romantic, however, recognizes that the movement, the organization, the institution, the revolution, if it comes to that, is merely a backdrop to his or her or their own personal drama and that to pretend otherwise is to surrender freedom and will to the totalitarian impulse, is to replace psychological reality with sociological illusion, but such truth never penetrates the glo-coat of righteous conviction that surrounds the social idealist when he or she or they is identifying with the poor or the exploited. Since, on a socio-economic level, there are myriads wrongs that need to be righted, a major problem for the species seems to be how to assist the unfortunate, throttle the corrupt, preserve the biosphere, and effectively organize for socio-economic alteration without the organization being taken over by dullards, the people who, ironically, are best suited to serving organized causes since they seldom have anything more imaginative to do and,  restricted by tunnel vision, probably wouldn’t do it if they had.”

It’s kinda fun though, after “denver’s anarcho-fabulous celeb” spit at me, I asked her out to dinner. ha 😉 I mean that is the fire I’m talking about. It’d be cool if she, ya know, took the time to draw her own conclusions about me rather than jump on the group think band wagon of our very own anarchist/totalitarian regime, but alas, at least she hasn’t given up the fire that has tokenized her. She met my offer with the loving, “Snitches get stitches” reply.

Heard.

On the topic of my self constructed accountability process… it’s going great!

…and finally,

“Totalitarianism is never content to rule by external means, namely, through the state and a machinery of violence; thanks to its peculiar ideology and the role assigned to it in this apparatus of coercion, totalitarianism has discovered a means of dominating and terrorizing human beings from within.” -Hannah Ardent
…my withins are no longer terrorized.

  1. “Organizations are obstacles to organizing ourselves. In truth, there is no gap between what we are, what we do, and what we are becoming. Organizations, political or labor, fascist or anarchist, always begin by separating, practically, these aspects of existence. It’s then easy for them to present their idiotic formalism as the sole remedy to this separation. To organize is not to give structure to weakness. It is above all to form bonds-bonds that are by no means neutral- terrible bonds. The degree of organization is measured by the intensity of sharing- material AND spiritual.”
